A superb 16th Century Spanish chestnut coffer. The impressive front is carved with two sunburst roundels with a face in the centre of the sun. Also two carved stylised trees with sun tops bearing crosses flanking a central carving of necklace with a heart and two feeding birds. The original plinth is carved with feeding birds and flowers.
