Elizabethan oak joined chest constructed to remarkably high standards consistent with mid-sixteenth-century fixed woodwork produced in and around London. Mitered joints, floating muntins, fully finished back, lid with quartered panels, and fine-grained, radially-cut timber throughout. Undisturbed surface consists of one coat of original thin, red stain. Original lock-plate.
